Long Overdue Newsletter - March 2024

The authors of Safe Landing are back on the event circuit next week with an event at Budlong Woods Library, a Chicago Public Library branch. The event is in collaboration with the Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society and will take place on Wednesday, April 10th from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. For more information and to add the event to your calendar, you can access right here.

Also, the 45th anniversary of American Airlines Flight 191 is coming up on May 25th. We'll share updates from our authors here in the next few newsletters.

New Book Alert!

We are thrilled to announce that the first edition of Adam Hersh's book Before You Sign: A Pocket Guide to Contract Law has been printed. Tune in to our April newsletter for a full profile of this book, the many reasons we're excited about it, upcoming events, and more. It's technically still pre-release, but you can order a copy here and expect to see it by the end of April.

On Writing: The Two Twist Scene

This blog post is a combination of a Second City writing class and a scene from the original Die Hard. I hope this can be a helpful framework for creating more suspense and excitement when revising a scene/chapter.

Road to a 16-seed

A March Madness basketball tradition over here, I've got a new chapter of the ongoing saga: Road to a 16 Seed. In this latest installment, the basketball hoops at the Midwest Conference Tournament look a little bit off. The tourney is postponed until a new tape measure arrives.

Helpful Resource for Authors - "Chill Subs"

What is it? A free database of 3000+ literary magazines, 1200+ writing contests, a submissions tracker, and other tools to make your writing life not so freaking exhausting. Highly recommend! Here's their website and here's where to find them on LinkedIn. Chill Subs. Their name alone makes me feel relaxed.

"Chill Subs? That has me thinking I want a sandwich."
