Mailbag - Round 1
My Long Overdue to-do list was exactly that... long overdue. So, as I was playing catch-up earlier this week, I thought, why not share some of these answers and address questions/scenarios that other authors or soon-to-be authors might be wrestling with. A little bit of Frasier Crane vibes. Anyways, I hope this becomes a recurring series. Maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
15-Minute Video Detailing the Tough Climb Authors Face
This isn't the most uplifting video, but it's brutally honest and prepares authors for the tough climb ahead, at least in terms of book sales. Anna David also makes a great point that book sales aren't the only revenue stream for authors. For example, an illustrator might land a client from their book. Same for a consultant or other businessperson. A fiction writer might land speaking gigs. Great advice throughout and a helpful look behind the curtain at the state of the publishing industry.
"Dr. Crane, I really have to go to the bathroom, but my human has been staring at his computer for the last 2 hours, I assume working on the monthly newsletter.
